THIS IS HOW WE BREW IT

We decouple proteins from the animals that make them using fermentation.

1. DNA SEQUENCE LIBRARY

DNA is like a recipe for protein. It contains the step-by-step genetic instructions needed to make all the proteins that cells need to function.

Thanks to decades of scientific study, we know many of the DNA sequences that animals use to make protein.

By accessing this information in a data library, we can assemble the same DNA sequences that a chicken uses to produce proteins. Unlike cellular agriculture, our process uses a "protein recipe" and does not require animal cells.

2. PRECISION FERMENTATION

We use two ingredients found in nearly every kitchen: yeast and sugar. We take the DNA sequence of chicken egg protein and insert it into yeast.

We feed the yeast sugar, which in turn, is naturally converted into protein through fermentation.

Fermentation ensures the highest-quality and most consistent version of an egg protein every time, using significantly less water, land, and energy.

3. NATURE-EQUIVALENT PROTEINS

The result is nature-equivalent animal protein, made without using a single animal.

The end product contains no sugar, no genetically modified organisms, and no rDNA.

Why are you called EVERY?

We believe in a world where every protein is animal-free and every factory farm is shut down. This is what we work toward, every day.

What is the impact of your proteins on the environment?

Our preliminary Life Cycle Analysis indicates EVERY's animal-free egg proteins require significantly less water, land, and generate fewer greenhouse gas emissions than animal-derived egg protein. We are in the process of validating our LCA findings at our manufacturing site and look forward to sharing the results.

What are your products used for?

Our fermentation-derived proteins can be used in a wide variety of applications including baking, as a nutritional supplement, and as a protein boost for food and beverages.

Where can I find protein by EVERY?

We’re an ingredient company working with food and beverage brands of all sizes to bring our products to market. You’ll eventually find our proteins in many different food and beverage products across multiple categories.

What else are you working on?

Our R&D team is super-busy exploring new ways to create animal-free proteins that match or exceed the taste, texture, and culinary functionality of animal-derived proteins. Follow us for more on our ongoing work.

When will your first products be available?

We currently sell animal-free Pepsin through our distribution partner Ingredion and our first egg white protein is also now available for commercial sale. If you're a business interested in partnering with us, our Partner section has more information.

Why did you choose egg proteins?

Egg proteins are one of the most versatile ingredients and an irreplaceable element essential in the making of countless mass market products, from baked goods to pasta to ice cream. Traditional egg production often takes place in factory farm environments, and can be a significant drain on our planet’s precious resources. We believe that offering nature-equivalent animal-free egg proteins is essential to transforming our food system.

What is Animal-Free or Non-Animal egg protein?

It is the same protein you get from a chicken egg but made in an alternative way.

How do you make your egg protein?

We make our protein using fermenters and yeast instead of factory farms and animals, through a process called precision fermentation. There’s more about this in our process.

Will you make a complete egg (white, yolk, and shell)?

Bear with us. We’re working hard to address the entire egg and egg market, but it will take us some time.

How will I know if a product contains Animal-Free or Non-Animal egg protein by EVERY?

If a product contains egg protein by EVERY, it will be listed as an ingredient.

Are your proteins vegan?

Yes. No animals were used to create our proteins. Our proteins are endorsed as vegan by: Animals Australia, Albert Schweitzer Foundation for Our Contemporaries, Compassion in World Farming, Animal Outlook, Farm Forward, The Good Food Institute, The Humane League, Mercy for Animals, One Step for Animals, PETA, Vegan Outreach, Veganuary, and Viva!.

Note: because our egg proteins are nature-equivalent to chicken-made eggs, they are considered egg allergens. People with an egg allergy should not consume our proteins.

I have an egg allergy. Does this mean I will be allergic to EVERY's egg protein?

Yes, it does. Because our egg proteins are nature-equivalent to their animal-made counterparts, they are considered an egg allergen. Those with an egg allergy should not consume our egg proteins.

Are your proteins GMO-Free?

Yes. We use genetic engineering to make our proteins, but there are no GMO’s in the final product.

Are your proteins Kosher and/or Halal?

Yes, our proteins and facilities are Kosher and Halal certified.

Are your proteins plant-based?

No, we create animal-protein (without the animal) which is different from plant-based protein. Even though no animal is used or harmed in our precision fermentation process, the end result is nature-equivalent to a chicken-made egg protein and is considered an egg allergen.

Are your proteins cell-based (or cell-cultured)?

Our proteins are not cell-based. As the name suggests, cell-based products require a physical animal cell to grow protein. Our precision fermentation process does not use animal cells and instead taps into a DNA library, which contains the genetic codes necessary to make animal proteins - without the animal. Why do you call your proteins Animal-Free?

EVERY conducted extensive consumer research to identify the clearest way to describe our proteins and the fact that no animal or animal cell is involved in our process or product. Our research indicated that Animal-Free is the clearest, most understandable way to describe animal protein made without using a single animal.

Are your proteins gluten-free?

Yes, our proteins are gluten-free.

Do your proteins contain sugar?

No. They are made using yeast and plant-based sugars through the process of fermentation. The yeast eats the sugar, so there is no sugar at all in our final proteins.

Is your Animal-Free protein safe to eat?

Yes. Precision fermentation is a safe, well-established method that has been used to produce animal proteins - including rennet for cheese and insulin for diabetics - for decades.
